Three reasons people give up on prayer

Reason #1
“I run out of things to say”

 

   Believers are too embarrassed to admit it.

   After a few minutes of prayer they run out of things to say. They go silent.

   Often, they wonder how someone can pray for one hour, two hours and beyond.

   What is responsible for this?

   Lack of training.

   Plus, no prayer support.

   In most churches, people join the choir and attend choir practice - to be trained to sing well.

   Many fellowships conduct weekly Bible studies - to teach people the scriptures.

   These are all good.

   But ...

   Have you ever seen a church with prayer studies / practice?

   In my entire life I've only seen one or two (and I've visited many continents of the world).

   Question:

   How then are you supposed to learn how to pray and receive answers from the throne of God?

   The disciples of Christ had this same problem at one time.

   So they asked to be taught.

   To pray.

   As a believer, you too need to be taught to pray - Luke 11 verse 1.

   Once you are taught to pray, this problem will become a thing of the past.

   You will find yourself praying for hours (and enjoying it) especially when you see the answers to your prayers …

   ... coming day after day.

 

Reason #2
“I pray, pray, pray – no answer”

 

   If you have been praying without being taught how, you will most certainly face this problem.

   You could be praying amiss.

   Meaning: your prayers are not targeted at all.

   It is like firing a gun without aiming at anything.

   You are just hoping it hits something.

   But there is a better way.

   Especially if you are praying to receive answers (more about this in a moment).

 

Reason #3
“I get discouraged easily”

   I don’t blame you for getting discouraged.

   I would be too, especially since no one seems able to explain why some pray and receive answers while YOU pray and…

   Nothing.

   Discouragement is one of the biggest weapons the enemy uses to turn believers away from prayer.

   And if you do not have a caring support group to encourage you, or stand in the gap for you, you’re most likely going to give up prematurely.

 

The hidden secret of unanswered prayer

 

    Last year, I was hit with a powerful REVELATION as I looked at the testimonies coming in.

   I wondered whether all those who joined our prayers were receiving the answers to their prayers.

   Because I believe that anyone who ever followed our instructions on how to pray effectively should be able to share at least one testimony before long.

   That's when it hit me.

   A huge number of those who take that step of faith run into satanic roadblocks immediately AFTER joining the prayers and could not continue to the ends!

   Just to confirm this, I sent out an email asking to know if anyone had run into these ROADBLOCKS and could not continue with the prayers.

   If so, I wanted to help them remove that roadblock once and for all... so they too can share their testimony sooner than later. 

The replies came in fast and furious... 

   Within days I received 2739 responses.

   For easier analysis I grouped them into 10 categories.

   One group stuck out immediately: The Discouraged

   People get discouraged when answers don’t come quickly

   Someone said:

   “I’ve prayed these prayers for a week and a day and I haven’t really seen any changes… last night I thought to stop praying because it doesn’t feel like it’s working.”

What this means:

   The enemy makes people equate success in prayer only with visible change.

   When answers delay, discouragement sets in, and the internal narrative becomes, “Maybe God doesn’t see me or love me like the others,” or “I’m doing something wrong.”

   This hopelessness makes them quietly drop out of the prayers early.

   What about the others?

   They were people suffering from...

2. Overwhelm, Fatigue, and Physical Exhaustion

3. Distractions and Life Interruptions

4. Spiritual Opposition and Fear from Dreams or “Attacks”

5. Emotional Burnout and “Loss of Fire”

6. Shame, Condemnation, and Fear of Joining Again

7. Unresolved Personal and Family Crises

8. Technical or Logistical Barriers

9. Financial Constraints

10. Repeated Failure Patterns (“Starting but Not Finishing”)

There's a simple exercise to help you get on the path to answered prayer.

Actually, 2 simple exercises.

I have kept them so simple that you can finish everything in 3 minutes flat.

The first is a specific prayer I want you to pray as soon as you wake up.

That is, as soon as you get up from bed in the morning.

As soon as your feet hit the floor.

Nothing complicated.

Right after this, you will get a pen and paper and write something down.

(Better to write this in a notebook or journal, not a piece of paper that can be easily misplaced).

Remember: 

The goal here is obedience, not perfection.
